Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to Erik!!
Today is Erik's 31st birthday. I got him a video card so he could play Everquest with nice graphics!
Jenna and I went to Jen and Rachel's house for a playdate. Rachel is 10 months old, and they seemed to get along very well. She didn't beat up Jenna like Nicholas does.
Jenna learned how to turn off the lights in our computer room, then she pointed to the lights to indicate that she knew they were off. She's SO cute!!
I only got 11 today on Quiddler - it was a bad day!

Beep Beep!

Jenna is doing the cutest thing ever! Whenever the microwave or oven beeps (timer expires), Jenna says "beep". SO CUTE!! She has also started this same habit with other noises too. Like when I'm getting in the car and don't have my seatbelt on yet, the car will "ding". She says "beep".
She is also pointing at everything. I love it!!

Fun Friday!

Today Erik is having his friends over for guys gaming night. They will be shooting each other on their computers while eating pizza and talking through headphones. They will all be coming over at 6:30pm tonight. I'm going to the women's conference at church which should be a lot of fun! So we will both be having good nights - mine will be better though:).
I took Jenna to Kroger today and she thought she would "crab" (fuss in a way that looks like a crab) in the seat. However she has discovered the wonders of the refrigerator and won't let me put anything away without standing inside it.
70 on Quiddler today :)

Back from a break

My hard drive has been giving me "disk read errors" so I had to take it to the helpdesk to get fixed. Now I have it back! Yea!
Jenna has been sick for the past 10 days. She had an ear infection (her first one!!). However she has been taking some steps. She took 4 steps on the 16th then took a few steps to get some chocolate Erik was holding in front of her (yes she IS my daughter!).
Today I got -16 in Quiddler. There were only 2 vowels!! The second time I got 20 points only because cwm is a word. Go figure!

Dayton

I like Dayton. I don't like driving to Dayton, but I like the city. Wright State University is in Dayton and someday I'll finish my degree :). I met with my advisor today to discuss my progress or lack thereof.
My mom watched Jenna today and apparently she only had one 45 minute nap today. Erik said she was a monster.
After Dayton I taught until 10:30pm. Now I'm tired and ready for bed. I even lost to Erik on quiddler today. He got 82 and I got 76 :(

Who doesn't love zithers!

Today I got to use my favorite word in Quiddler: zither! What a great word and what a great instrument! I would have no clue how to play one. I got 88 as my score today.
Jen and Nicholas came over today. She worked out in the basement while I watched Nicholas and Jenna. They get along pretty well when Nicholas is not beating her up.
I rolled a ball to her and she picked it up and said "ba ba". Then I rolled it across the room and said "go get the ball Jenna" and she did! I was so excited!!! She is SO cute :).

Dentists!

Today I went to the dentist, and I haven't gone since Jenna was a few months old and had to sit in the carrier. I love our dentist. They are Christians and very friendly. The receptionist (Kelli) and I are good friends :). I didn't have any cavities! Yea!
Jenna was a monster today. She only took one one hour nap when she usually takes two naps each an hour a piece. So she was very tired and screaming at the top of her lungs. We put her in bed twice but she still screamed!!!
Erik and I started to try eating right today. We are hoping to lose 2lbs a week for the next 7 weeks so I can get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Of course - I did make white chocolate macadamia nut cookies today - but I only ate one!

Superbowl Sunday

Today is SuperBowl Sunday! Steelers vs. Seahawks. I don't really care about either team. So instead we went to buy Erik a cell phone. He doesn't have one and since we use VOIP (which is not that reliable) we wanted a backup.
We are having cheese fondue, chocolate fondue and mini weenies while we watch the superbowl - that's healthy food right?

Oreos dipped in chocolate fondue is the greatest of all foods. Here is my chocolate fondue recipe (from allrecipes.com but with less sugar):

• 1/2 cup butter
• 1/2 cup Cocoa Powder
• 2/3 cup white sugar
• 1/2 cup evaporated milk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS:

1. Melt butter in small saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat; immediately stir in cocoa. Add sugar and evaporated milk.
2. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved and mixture is smooth. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Serve warm with assorted fondue dippers.

Mmmm....Donuts

Today I brought Timbits in for my Saturday morning class. I love Timbits! They are the greatest thing in the world. If I were to bring in donuts for my class, I'd have to bring in 2-3 dozen to have one for everyone. However, with timbits, I just get a nifty pack for $4.75 with a nice variety.
Two of my students are pregnant, which makes me want another baby too :). Maybe someday....
I did pitifully in Quiddler today with 46, however I got all 6 sets in 48 seconds (my personal best!).

Cool Days

I've been wanting to start a blog and trying to decide which day to start it (and even if I wanted to!) when I realized that a cool day would be coming up. What defines "cool". I mean numerically cool. So 2/3/06 is cool because 2*3 is 6. 2/3/05 would have also been cool. I was hoping my daughter would have been born in 3/4/05 which was 2 days after her due date. However she was born early 1/20/05. Which is inauguration day - so that is somewhat cool (just not numerically). I was born on 7/5/75 and that was a cool day.
